FotoFacial®: What is this treatment? FotoFacial® is actually a combination of treatments by BBL treatments in order to address many defects or damages caused by the sun and aging. The treatments include the use of a BBL filter to get rid of pigmentation, another for redness (rosacea or poikiloderma), broken capillaries and facial spider veins, and one for wrinkles and laxity of the skin.
The combination of these treatments performed at the same visit with local skin anesthesia is then repeated monthly for 4 to 5 treatments. The results are simply fantastic.
What Can I expect with these treatments? Your pore size is reduced, the texture of the skin becomes smoother, and the skin becomes tighter, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and tightening the skin of the jowls, cheeks and neck. A tired, older looking neck and face can be made more vibrant and younger looking, without drastic (and sometimes face and life altering) plastic surgery. Variations on the treatments can be made by substituting an ArcticPeel for one of the other treatments, where wrinkles or skin laxity is the major problem.

What parts of the body can be treated by these techniques? The most common area is the Face and Neck combination, but other common areas of treatment include the abdomen, thighs and knees, breasts (for elevation and treatment of the d'ecolleté), back, as well as the upper arms.

Can all skin types be treated by FotoFacial®? Yes, but it general, lighter skin types will be treated with a different combination of the laser and BBL procedures than will darker skin types. It is important to tell your doctor if there is a background of darker genes, increased pigmentation with trauma, medication usage that causes sensitivity to sunlight or keloid formation.
What adjunctive treatments can be added to help enhance or protect the results? Skin Care products or needle based therapies (Botox or Fillers) will be recommended by Dr. Seaver if needed to prolong the effects or results of these BBL based treatments. MicroLaserPeels or Arctic Peels may be suggested to aid in other skin defects such as acne scarring which is mild, or fractionated Erbium Laser treatments may be recommended for more severe problems. How will I know which combination is right for me? Doctor Seaver and his staff will review your history, medicines and your skin type to make proper choices to address the skin damage which bothers you most, prior to scheduling your treatments. Pre treatment regimens will be prescribed and discussed with you and the treatments will begin 2-4 weeks after the consultation. Occasionally, minimal pretreatment is necessary and if that is determined to be the case, the therapies can begin sooner.
